Yeah watch out for the D40. I'm kinda regretting it. Sure it is a great camera. But there is no bloody AF motor in the body (only auto focuses with AF-S lenses)?! I don't really mind, I'm usually manually focusing anyway.
Try looking into the Nikon D50, just as good, HAS an Af motor, and also has hot buttons (ISO, WB, & QUAL). Though you can only get it on Ebay now ;)
Well, whatever its your choice.
